Lieb Family Cellars operates its tasting room and produces its wines at The Premium Wine Group (PWG), a custom crush facility located in Mattituck, LI, only minutes from Lieb Vineyard. PWG, owned by Russell Hearn, Mark Lieb, and Bernard Sussman, opened its doors in September 2000 with some of the highest quality and most advanced wine making equipment to be found in North America. The state-of-the-art facility provides "custom crush" services for many wineries and growers in the region, helping to establish the North Fork as an internationally acknowledged high quality wine-producing region.
ABOUT PREMIUM WINE GROUP
Premium Wine Group is a contract winemaking facility designed to allow an economical way to produce wine without the huge investment in equipment and facility. The individual style is driven by our Producers / Clients in the production of their wine.
PWG is designed with an array of technologically superior equipment, which allows our clients complete freedom in producing wine. Our experienced staff of wine production professionals allows our clients the comfort that their wines are being handled in the highest quality practices. Both "custom-production" and "custom-crush" services are provided to licensed producers and wholesalers of wine. These services are being utilized by many local wineries and wineries in the Northeast that source fruit from the North Fork of Long Island, see our Producers / Clients. Established in 2000, an initial 545 tons were received, we have steadily grown to 1,000 tons with an ultimate capacity of 1,400 tons. Premium Wine Group's mission is to continually upgrade plant, equipment and services to allow our Producers / Clients the highest quality environment in which to sculpt their individual wines. ABOUT LIEB CELLARS TASTING ROOM
Lieb Family Cellars has its sales and tasting room at the PWG site (35 Cox Neck Road, just off Route 48), only 90 minutes from NYC. It opened its doors in May of 2001. With a modern decor, this small and inviting tasting room is the place to go to taste and purchase the complete line of Lieb wines. Visitors are welcome to sample wines and enjoy the outdoor picnic area, while talking with a knowledgeable and attentive staff that loves to discuss local wine and food. The wines are constantly changing as old and new vintages are often offered to make every visit a unique experience. Hours change seasonally, so be sure to call or check the website before your next visit.
We can accommodate groups of up to 30 in our tasting room and up to 40 in our outdoor picnic area. Tastings can be done outside, weather permitting. FROM THE WEST
Take the L.I.E. (495) to exit 71. Go to the end of the ramp and make a left onto Edwards Ave. Stay in the left lane and go straight 4 miles to the second traffic light. Make a right onto Sound Ave and go east 11.3 miles to Cox Neck Road. Make a left onto Cox Neck Rd, the Lieb Cellars Tasting Room at the Premium Wine Group site is the first building on the left.
FROM THE SOUTH
Take route 27, Sunrise Highway, towards Hampton Bays. Take route 24 North to the second traffic light. Make a right at the light onto route 105. Take 105 to the end and make a right onto Sound Avenue. Go 5.8 miles to Cox Neck Road. Make a left onto Cox Neck Rd, the Lieb Cellars Tasting Room at the Premium Wine Group site is the first building on the left.
FROM CONNECTICUT
Take the New London Ferry to Orient Point. Exit the ferry and take Rt 25 West 7.5 miles. At the blinking light in Greenport continue straight on Truck 25 /CR 48 West for 13 miles. At the end of the Rt 48 "highway" turn right at the 2nd traffic light onto Cox Neck Rd. The Lieb Cellars Tasting Room is in the Premium Wine Group building immediately on your left.
FROM SHELTER ISLAND
Take the North Ferry to Greenport. Exit the ferry and make a left at the light. Make your fourth right onto Moores La. Go to the end of Moores La. and make a left onto Sound Ave. Go 12.8 miles and make a right onto Cox Neck Rd, the Lieb Cellars Tasting Room at the Premium Wine Group site is the first building on the left.
