FEATURED WINES

2010 Park Avenue Summer Rosé $20.00 per bottle

park avenue summer

Art meets viticulture in this very special seasonal wine.  Park Avenue Summer Rosé was created from the ground up as a custom wine for Manhattan's Park Avenue Summer restaurant.  Every season the restaurant is reborn with coordinated interior decor, menu and a featured seasonal wine.  This year we produced a bit more of the wine so that Park Avenue Summer Restaurant patrons and fans of Lieb Cellars can purchase the wine.

The 2010 harvest on the North Fork of Long Island was spectacular, and this is the first wine Lieb Cellars has released from this vintage.  The wine was designed to compliment both the seasonal design of the restaurant, and the artistry of the Summer menu. Visually, the stunning salmon pink color of the wine radiates from the tall clear bottle, while the wine label mirrors the praphics of the Summer menu and the restaurant's striking interior design.    Inside the bottle, the wine aromas and flavors are redolent of summer, oozing juicy flavors of peach and mango wit hints of strawberry on the fininsh.  Complimenting the fresh seasonal and local cuisine at the restaurant, the wine is produced using Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet France grapes from our estate vineyard in Cutchogue, only 90-miles east of New York City.

2010 Vintage
RETAIL PRICE — $23/BOTTLE

In 2010 we celebrated a decade of producing wines under our own label, using our estate grapes.  To mark the occasion, for the 2010 vintage we crafted a special limited release Pinot Blanc, vinified in the tradition of the great whites of Alsace.  It has a hint of residual sugar (0.9%), enough to provide a long finish, bigger mouthfeel, and complexity of flavors to show our clones' French heritage.  The bouquet reminds us of pear, anise and white pepper; the flavors are bosch pear, apricot pits and orange rind.  There is enough acidity to balance the tropical flavors and also remind us that this wine is indeed from the same grapevines as our signature dry, mineral-driven Pinot Blanc.  A great vintage that allows long time is required to produce a wine in this style, so we hope nature will allow us to duplicate something like this very soon.  For now, only  725 cases available.

RESERVE PETIT VERDOT

2008 Vintage / 196 cases
RETAIL PRICE — $30/BOTTLE

FIRST VINTAGE.  Lieb Vineyard has less than 1-acre of this varietal, which is usually blended with other red grapes (as in Bordeaux).  However in 2008,, rather than use the grapes to add "power" to other red blends, we produced a small amount of elegant and approachable single varietal wine.  The 2008 vintage was cool and produced restrained wines, an indeal vintge to test this varietal.  A touch of Malbec and Caberneet Sauvignon provide roundness and balance.

The color is distincly crimson with purple edges, and the nose is reminescent of dark berriers (cassis?), with rose petals and hints of sweet tobacco.  Mouthfeel displays medium mid-palate body and great acidity.  The wine shows flavors of blackberry and spices of sage, clove and cinnamon).

RIGHT COAST RED

RIGHT COAST RED

2008 Vintage / 335 cases
RETAIL PRICE — $30/BOTTLE

NEW RELEASE.  A completely new wine, in our first "bordeaux" bottle, Right Coast Red presents a complex expression of our vineyard terroir.  Produced entirely from our estate grapes in the Lieb Vineyard, each varietal was vinified separately, and a assemblage was produced for maximum balance and complexity.  It is softer than our Meritage, designed for immediate gratification.  We think it is quite hedonistic and will not be confused from wines from either the left coast or the right bank.  The flavor profile is ripe cherry and plum fruit, with hints of coffee and tea leaves.   Assemblage of 45% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 12% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot.   325 cases produced.

2005 Vintage
RETAIL PRICE — $22/BOTTLE

NEW RELEASE. 2005 was a defining vintage on the North Fork, with record rainfalls ending the hope for a perfect vintage and making all growers accutely aware of the realities of climate change. We hand-picked all the grapes at the onset of the storm, skirting disaster. The result is our biggest Merlot since 2000, with deep ruby color, and big tannins that will age well. The nose exhibits cedar, smoke with ripe plum and cassis. The palate is rich with plum, black cherry and hints of licorice and bacon. A rich and complex mouthfeel that should soften further with age. While delicious to drink now, this one is built to last.
